Yelz – Kororā

Written by Yelz

‘Street Prints Mauao’ has been a highlight this year. I chose to paint the ‘kororā’, or ‘little blue penguin, the worlds smallest. This wall is 18 metres long by a beak length ”>

Up to 800 kororā nest on the mountain and I had a lot of people coming up to me during the festival telling me all about these tiny but powerful birds. They nest as high as possible, some at the very top of the mountain, what a mission! I was fortunate to meet Rosalie from the Mauao Wildlife trust http://mauaowildlife.org and do a little commission for them too. Much love to Jah, Lovie and all the volunteers, my fellow artists and friends and the great community support that fed us and kept us going throughout!

HIS WALL IS LOCATED BEHIND NEXT TO LJ HOOKER ON MAUNGANUI ROAD.
